TRAVEL|VIATGE

--

We're thrilled that you will be joining us!

We are suggesting that guests traveling from abroad stay near the beach town where the welcome party will be held, about one-hour south from Barcelona, for the two days of events. Below you will find recommendations for accommodation, where to eat, things to do, and how to get around the area. Outside of that, we encourage you to extend your stay and take time to explore Barcelona!

We also wanted to note that the weekend of the wedding coincides with the summer solstice and a Catalan holiday - the Feast of Sant Joan. This holiday on June twenty-fourth marks their kick-off to summer, much like Memorial Day does in the United States. Also known as 'Nit del Foc' ("Night of Fire"), expect a lively evening and night on the twenty-third, whether in the city or at the beach, with fireworks and bonfires. More information can be found here.

PLACES TO EAT

*Spain is very big on restaurant reservations. We highly recommend you consider planning ahead and making a reservation in advance, especially considering this will be a Holiday weekend*

Casinet

A local favorite serving a must try dish for anyone visiting Spain. This restaurant offers arguably the best paellas you'll find, prepared for you in their open kitchen.

Restaurant Vil·la Casals

A casual restaurant located at the Fundación Paul Casal, the former seaside villa of the famed cellist turned museum. If the beachfront terrace is full, consider a table in their rose garden.

Restaurant Masia Francàs

Known in our family as the "Versace Mansion" for its inspired decor, this Italian restaurant is owned and operated by the former chef of the Da Greco Barcelona. If you order pasta, don't be surprised when they bring you two plates - one for you and a second smaller plate to share.

Restaurant Sargantana

Watch the sail boats come into the marina at this restaurant located on the harbor walk in Roda de Bera.

La Calma Salada

Lively restaurant and bar located at the far end of the marina in Coma-ruga. Try to time your visit with the sweeping sunsets over the Mediterranean.

Restaurant Cal Sisquet

Dine seaside on the bluffs of El Roc de Sant Gaietà, or stop by for an ice cream while exploring el Roc - they're renowned for it! Afterward, consider walking the nearby Camí de Ronda for great views.

Restaurant Vila dels Àngels

Beautiful restaurant located in a historic villa along the boardwalk of Coma-ruga.

L'Obrador

One of our favorite bakeries.. anywhere. Don't be surprised if you run into us there - it is our go-to breakfast spot in town.

Pati Dels Tarongers

Enjoy dinner al fresco in the wall courtyard of Montserrat Castle just a short drive away in Altafulla.

PLACES TO GO

If you want to venture out and explore the area, here are our highlights.

Sitges

"The Charming Spanish Beach Town You’ve Probably Never Heard Of". Explore the beaches, boardwalks, and rambling cobbled streets of this vibrant beach town. Perhaps best known as an LGBTQ+ travel destination, this small city with a big personality has a lot to offer.

Tarragona Roman Ruins

If you're looking to take in some history, consider visiting the Tarraco Roman Ruins in the old city of Tarragona. See amphitheaters and aqueducts entwined in a modern city at this UNESCO world heritage site. Consider a guided tour, or pick up a map and explore on your own.

Monserrat

It's hard to miss the sawtooth peaks of Monserrat jutting out from the landscape as your travel through the region. If you are looking for adventure, consider taking the network of funicular cable cars to explore its peaks and the monastery perched on its cliff side.

Vineyards

Located in the Penedès DOP wine region, the area is full of wineries and caves to visit. Consider booking a tour and a wine tasting. Some of them even have great restaurants you can eat at.

Bodegas Torres, Bodegas Jean León, Cellers Avgvstvs Forvm, Caves Freixenet

GETTING AROUND

If you choose to stay in the area, we recommend renting a car to get to/from and around while here. If you prefer to stay in the city, where a car is not needed to get around, we would advise that you arrange transportation to and from the wedding events in advance.

As mentioned in the RSVP, we are organizing transportation for guests staying in the area to get to and from Caves Codorniu. We will finalize the pick-up locations once we have a better understanding of where everyone will be staying.
